•January 9, 2008 • Leave a CommentToday was not a pleasant experience for me in the electronics department. As computers become more and more important to the world, the information stored on them also has great importance. Thus the external hard drive was invented. No longer are the days of losing an entire years worth of work because of a computer melt down, you no longer need to worry about saving your work to 400 floppy disks in order to protect your valuable work, there is no possible way to lose data if you use an external hard drive…unless you have a faulty external hard drive. It seems that to prevent the loss of data from your external hard drive which is protecting you from the sudden loss of data from you computer, you now need and external hard drive for your external hard drive. Computer users of the world BEWARE, your information is not safe no matter how much you try to protect it. And yes, even you worry warts out there who already have 5 external hard drives, there is still a chance that all of them will fail at the same time. Clearly the only solution is to buy 5 more externals and hope that the odds are in your favor.
Unreasonable Objections
•January 9, 2008 • Leave a CommentIt has come to my attention recently that people enjoy having products simply to have them. And though it started as just products, the unnecessary lust can be found for almost anything. For most people in America, there are several rights that fall under this category. Recently I have noticed that people flaunt their rights, with little or no knowledge about how or why they have them. The right to privacy is the most common in current events due to the Patriot Act. People are in an outrage, but why? What have they really lost? People have lost the right to plot terrorist attacks over the phone and email and not get caught. That is all the Patriot Act is meant for. Now, I see nothing wrong with that. Having a right simply to have it accomplishes nothing. If the country can be better protected if that right is infringed upon slightly, then I find no reason why the citizens of the country should be against it. This is even more important in todays environment. Oh no, the government can actually catch a criminal red handed without being held up by bureaucracy.
Expectations
•March 27, 2007 • Leave a CommentSo this is my first real blog post, so bare with me.As teenagers and students, we are often expected to act mature and like adults. I personally can be mature and often fit in quite well with adults. Because of this, I am usually treated how I act. If I am acting mature, the people around me treat me as such. However, there are some exceptions to the rule, and frankly, they make me livid. I am on a sports team at my school. As a senior, sports are nothing new to me, and most of the coaches at my school do a pretty good job of treating us like the young adults that we are. There is one coach, however, that is not so good at doing this. He treats the entire team like little children and sometimes even worse. He seems to have absolutely no respect for anyone under the age of 25 (I say this because he seems to give as much respect to his 20 year old assistant coach as he does to the athletes). I have talked to numerous adults about my dilemma, and most of the responses are the same, “He is just being cautious and trying to prevent stuff from happening.” This answer just doesn’t do it for me. There has got to be another solution to this problem other than treating us like ignorant children. Why does he feel it necessary to treat us like young children, but then expect us to act like we are 20? It just doesn’t make sense.
